Sul Ross State University hosts mock trial today at Brewster County Courthouse

The Sul Ross State University Homeland Security and Criminal Justice Department will host a mock trial today at the Brewster County Courthouse in Alpine, offering the public a live look at courtroom proceedings.

The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and is open to the public with free admission.

Organizers say the mock trial will provide an educational experience, showcasing courtroom procedures, legal arguments and the roles of attorneys, witnesses and the judge in a simulated case. The event is designed to give students hands-on experience while allowing community members to observe the judicial process in action.

Promoted as “courtroom drama live in action,” the trial is part of the university’s efforts to engage students in practical learning and connect academic programs with the local community.

Members of the public are invited to attend and observe the proceedings firsthand.
