Students at Marfa Independent School District recently took the stage to present original performances as part of the district’s 10th annual monologue workshop, culminating in the 2026 Spring Theater Showcase at Planet Marfa.
The program, held in collaboration with Marfa Live Arts, provided students with an opportunity to develop and perform their own material, highlighting creativity and storytelling among junior high participants.
Organizers credited Marfa Live Arts, Rachel Tate and MISD educator Catherine Gore with helping create an environment where students could explore their voices and bring original ideas to life.
Participants included seventh-grade students Azul Alvidrez, Ranger Dugan, Fatima Floresvillar, Liam Lopez and Lyla Luppino, along with eighth-grade students Itzayanna Duran, Olivia Esparza, Raivon Hamilton, Juliet Hinojos, Fabian Marquez and Logan Pippen.
The showcase featured a range of characters and themes, reflecting the students’ perspectives and experiences. School officials and organizers said the event underscored the depth of talent and commitment among Marfa ISD students.
The annual workshop and showcase aim to foster confidence, communication skills and artistic expression through performance.
