Longtime Davis Mountains State Park employee honored upon retirement

Staff at Davis Mountains State Park are celebrating the retirement of a longtime employee who has been a fixture at the park for decades.

Christina Hernandez was honored this week after 25 years of service with Texas Parks and Wildlife, where she served as a key member of the Indian Lodge team. Colleagues described her as an “anchor” to the operation, reflecting her steady presence and contributions over the years.

A small gathering marked the occasion, with staff presenting Hernandez with a decorated cake bearing the Texas State Parks logo and a message recognizing her retirement. The celebration included food and remarks acknowledging her years of dedication to the park and its visitors.

While coworkers said they will miss her around the park, they also expressed support and excitement for her next chapter following a quarter-century of service.
