Sul Ross State University will host its annual Big Event, a day of community service, on Saturday, April 11, with volunteer projects scheduled in both Alpine and Fort Davis.
The event will begin with Alpine-based projects from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by Fort Davis projects from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., according to organizers.
The Big Event is designed to bring students, community members and local organizations together for service projects that benefit the region. Activities typically include outdoor work, beautification efforts and support for local nonprofits.
Participating partners include the Alpine Humane Society, Alpine Public Library and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, among others.
Organizers are encouraging volunteers to sign up in advance. Registration is available online via a QR code provided on event materials.
The Big Event is part of Sul Ross State University’s ongoing efforts to foster community engagement and service throughout the Big Bend region.
