Alpine Animal Services Offers Reduced Adoption Fee for ‘Pet of the Week’

Alpine Animal Services has named Star as its Pet of the Week, offering the dog for adoption at a reduced fee through Sunday, April 12.

Star can be adopted for $50, half the standard fee. The adoption includes spaying, a microchip, heartworm testing and all vaccinations, according to the shelter.

The dog arrived at the shelter March 3 as a surrender after her previous owner could no longer afford her care. Staff say Star has adjusted well and enjoys playing with other dogs.

Star may be shy when meeting new people but warms up over time. Shelter staff are working with her to build confidence.

She is leash-trained and appears to be house-trained, keeping her kennel clean. Staff say she knows basic commands such as sit and lay down and is motivated by treats, making her relatively easy to train.

Star is described as energetic and would benefit from regular exercise and potentially a companion dog.

Once comfortable, she shows a sweet demeanor and enjoys being close to people, according to staff.

Those interested in adopting Star can visit the Alpine Animal Services shelter at 2900 Old Marathon Highway.
