Jeff Davis County commissioners will meet at 10 a.m. April 9, 2026, in the Jeff Davis County Courthouse to consider whether to accept a proposed road reconstruction project tied to border wall activity in the region.
According to the meeting agenda, the court will discuss and take action on a proposed gift from Barnard Construction to reconstruct Chispa Road from FM 2017 to the Jeff Davis-Presidio county line. The item is listed for consideration during a special commissioners court meeting.
Reporting by Marfa Public Radio and the Big Bend Sentinel has indicated that construction equipment is already operating along the roadway, raising questions ahead of the court’s decision on whether to formally accept the work.
The agenda also includes a discussion-only item on a pay increase under SB22 for Jeff Davis County sheriff’s deputies.
