Thousands rally at Texas Capitol opposing border wall construction in Big Bend

Thousands of people gathered Saturday at the Texas Capitol for a “Save Big Bend” rally opposing border wall construction in the Big Bend region of West Texas.

The demonstration, held on the south steps of the Capitol, drew community members, environmental advocates and regional leaders calling attention to ongoing and proposed wall projects near Big Bend National Park and surrounding areas.

Organizers said the rally aimed to highlight environmental and cultural concerns tied to construction in the region, which is known for its ecological significance and tourism economy.

Event materials encouraged public participation and promoted the “Save Big Bend” campaign across social media, as attendees carried signs and gathered throughout the Capitol grounds.

The rally comes amid continued debate over border security efforts and their potential impacts on communities and natural resources along the Texas-Mexico border.
