The Marfa Police Department is warning residents about an increase in vandalism across the community and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible.
In a recent public notice, the department said vandalism offenses in Texas can range from misdemeanors to felonies, with potential penalties including jail time and a permanent criminal record.
Officials said the recent incidents represent an uptick in property damage that they described as an “unfortunate rise” affecting local businesses and residents.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incidents to contact the department, noting that tips can be provided anonymously.
The department also encouraged business owners and residents to request close patrols if needed and to install surveillance cameras to help deter future incidents and aid investigations.
Anyone with information can contact the Marfa Police Department at 432-729-1841 or send a message through its official Facebook page.
