Texas Parks and Wildlife hiring cooks at Indian Lodge in Fort Davis

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is hiring multiple full-time cooks to work at the Black Bear Restaurant at Indian Lodge in Davis Mountains State Park.

According to the job posting, the Cook I positions involve preparing menu items, maintaining kitchen operations, managing inventory and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. The roles may also include assisting with other duties such as housekeeping, maintenance or groundskeeping.

The positions are based at the Black Bear Restaurant along Highway 118 North inside the park and are classified as full-time, 40-hour-per-week roles with occasional schedule variability, including weekends, holidays and split shifts.

Applicants must have at least six months of experience in food preparation in a full-service restaurant and must obtain a valid Food Handler Certification and driver’s license within 30 days of employment. Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and one year of relevant experience.

The hourly pay rate for the position is listed at $18.61, and the department notes that employees are eligible for state benefits, including insurance, retirement plans and paid time off.

The job posting was listed Jan. 21 and will remain open until June 19, with multiple openings available.
