Camp Host Opportunities Open at Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center for Summer, Fall 2026

The Chihuahuan Desert Nature Center & Botanical Gardens is seeking camper hosts for upcoming seasonal positions in 2026, offering visitors a chance to live and work in the Davis Mountains.

Openings are available from June through August and from September through December. Selected hosts will serve as information desk attendants at the center’s visitor facility from Thursday through Saturday, totaling 24 hours per week.

The position includes an RV pad with septic hookup, access to bathroom and shower facilities, and use of a washer and dryer. A stipend is also provided.

Located about four miles southeast of Fort Davis at an elevation of approximately 5,100 feet, the 507-acre site features more than five miles of hiking trails, a botanical garden, cactus greenhouse, bird blind and a mining exhibit.

The center is also situated near major regional attractions, including Big Bend National Park and the McDonald Observatory, offering hosts opportunities to explore the surrounding area during their stay.
