The Brewster County Sheriff’s Office has announced the retirement of K-9 Latek, a police dog who served with the department since 2018.
Sheriff Ronny Dodson said Latek played a key role in numerous law enforcement operations during his service. According to the sheriff’s office, the dog assisted in the seizure of thousands of pounds of narcotics and helped track and apprehend multiple criminal suspects across the region.
Latek also participated in community outreach, including demonstrations for thousands of area schoolchildren over the years.
The sheriff’s office said Latek will spend his retirement with his handler, Lt. Roach. Officials thanked the K-9 for his years of service to Brewster County.
