Alpine Animal Services names ‘Pibble’ Pet of the Week with discounted adoption fee

Alpine Animal Services is featuring a dog named Pibble as its Pet of the Week, offering a reduced adoption fee in hopes of finding him a permanent home.

The shelter announced that Pibble can be adopted for $50 — half the normal adoption fee — through the end of Sunday, March 15. The adoption includes spay surgery, a microchip, a heartworm test and vaccinations.

Pibble arrived at the Alpine Animal Services shelter on Dec. 13 after his owner had to surrender him while moving unexpectedly, according to the shelter.

Staff members say Pibble previously lived with other dogs and is good with children. They describe him as people-friendly with a calm personality.

The dog is leash-trained but is still learning not to pull during walks and appears especially excited when it is time to go outside, the shelter said.

Despite not being in the best physical condition when he arrived, Pibble has maintained a positive attitude. Shelter staff say he can sit on command, listens well and is motivated by treats.

“This guy comes with the sweetest puppy eyes and a gentle soul,” the shelter said in its announcement.

People interested in meeting Pibble can visit the Alpine Animal Services Shelter at 2900 Old Marathon Highway in Alpine.
