The City of Alpine is seeking applicants for a part-time Recycling Technician position at the Hal Flanders Recycling Center, according to a recent hiring announcement from the city’s Environmental Services Department.
The position offers a starting hourly rate of $15.00, with an annual salary of approximately $15,600, plus benefits. The role is scheduled for about 20 hours per week, with work occurring between the facility’s operational hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, though hours may vary based on departmental needs.
City officials say the Recycling Technician will report directly to the Environmental Services Coordinator and assist with daily operations at the recycling center. Responsibilities include operating equipment such as woodchippers, glass crushers, and compactors, maintaining the facility, sorting recyclables, and performing general grounds upkeep. The job also requires lifting up to 75 pounds and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Additional duties may include monitoring brush and metal recycling areas, performing minor equipment maintenance, and occasionally operating city vehicles or machinery.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and a valid Texas driver’s license. Pre-employment drug testing and background checks will be required.
