The Lady Bucks softball team finished third at the Concho Classic Tournament in San Angelo after posting a 4–1 overall record across the two-day event.
The team split games on the final day, falling 1–0 to Merkel in a tightly contested defensive matchup before rebounding with a 14–5 win over Stamford in a rematch later in the day.
Head Coach Chris Virdell said the tournament provided strong competition and valuable opportunities for the team to grow offensively while adjusting to different pitching styles. He also pointed to the pitching staff as a major strength, led by senior Kody Hawkins and junior Taryn Hardin, with freshman Angelina Carter continuing to develop.
The coaching staff is continuing to evaluate lineup combinations and build versatility across the roster as the season progresses.
The Lady Bucks return to practice this week and are scheduled to face Coahoma on Saturday in Kermit, with first pitch set for noon.
