The Alpine Animal Services Shelter is featuring Floyd as its Pet of the Week, offering a reduced adoption fee through Sunday, Feb. 15.
From now through the end of the day Sunday, Floyd can be adopted for $50, half the standard adoption fee. The cost includes neutering, a microchip, a heartworm test and all required vaccinations.
Floyd entered the shelter July 4, 2025, after being found running loose in the city of Alpine, Texas. He was later adopted but returned due to the adopter’s health, shelter officials said, noting the return was no fault of the dog.
Staff members describe Floyd as friendly, energetic and well-socialized. He enjoys playing with younger dogs and walks calmly past unfamiliar animals. He is also known for eagerly greeting visitors and enjoying attention.
Shelter volunteers said Floyd walks well on a leash and recently joined a group walk, where he quickly became a favorite among participants. He also appears to be largely house-trained, often waiting for outdoor time rather than using his kennel.
Floyd is especially fond of treats and chew toys, and staff members say his cheerful personality stands out.
“His whole body wiggles when he greets you,” shelter staff said. “He’s always happy and excited to be with people.”
Those interested in adopting Floyd can visit the Alpine Animal Services Shelter at 2900 Old Marathon Highway in Alpine.
