Border Patrol Agent Airlifted After Two-Vehicle Crash in Presidio County

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was airlifted for medical treatment following a two-vehicle collision Sunday on U.S. Highway 67 in Presidio County, according to local authorities and media reports.

The Presidio County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies responded to a two-car crash about 10 miles south of Shafter and north of Presidio. Officials said traffic was temporarily stopped and regulated while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The Big Bend Sentinel later reported that one of the vehicles involved belonged to the U.S. Border Patrol, and that an agent was seriously injured and transported by helicopter to a regional medical facility.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing multiple law enforcement vehicles and an HSI helicopter departing the scene. Motorists experienced delays as first responders cleared the roadway.

Authorities have not released the identity of the injured agent or details about the extent of the injuries. The condition of the other driver involved in the crash has also not been made public.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Officials said more information will be released as it becomes available.
