Students from Midland College recently traveled to College Station to attend the Texas A&M Engineering Career Fair as part of the college’s Texas A&M–Diamondback Engineering Academy program.
The visit is a required experience for first-year students enrolled in the academy, which is designed to introduce participants to professional engineering environments and career pathways early in their academic journey.
During the trip, students met with industry representatives, learned about internship and employment opportunities, and gained firsthand insight into the expectations of engineering employers. The experience also gave participants the chance to practice professional networking and explore different specializations within the field.
The career fair was hosted at Texas A&M University, one of the nation’s leading engineering institutions and a partner in the academy program.
College officials said the trip helps students “dip their toes into the engineering world” by exposing them to real-world career options and connecting them with professionals across multiple industries.
The Midland College program is supported by Diamondback Energy, which sponsors the academy and helps provide students with access to university partnerships and workforce development opportunities.
Educators noted that experiences like the career fair play a key role in preparing students for future transfers, internships, and careers in engineering-related fields.
The Texas A&M–Diamondback Engineering Academy allows students to begin their engineering studies at Midland College while building connections with a major research university, creating a pathway toward advanced degrees and professional success.
