Children’s Art Exhibition Celebrating Mexico to Open in Presidio

An international children’s art exhibition celebrating Mexican culture, community, and creativity will open Monday, Feb. 2, in Presidio, bringing together families, students, and educators from across the border region.

The traveling exhibition, part of the 28th “Este es mi México” Children’s Drawing Contest, highlights artwork centered on the theme “Pueblos y Barrios Mágicos de México.” The collection features drawings by young artists portraying everyday life, traditions, and landscapes from towns and neighborhoods throughout Mexico.

The opening event is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the PISD Administration Building and is being presented by the Consulate of Mexico in Presidio in partnership with local institutions and community organizations.

Participating venues include locations in Presidio as well as nearby communities such as Marfa and Ojinaga. Displays will also be hosted at schools, galleries, city facilities, and historic sites throughout the area.

In addition to viewing the artwork, visitors can take part in a “passport” program by collecting stamps at different exhibition sites. Participants who complete their passports will be eligible for prizes, encouraging families to explore multiple locations and engage with the broader cultural program.

Organizers say the exhibition is designed to strengthen cross-border ties, promote youth creativity, and highlight the shared heritage of the Presidio–Ojinaga region.

More than 50 student artists are being recognized as winners, with additional honorable mentions from local elementary schools.

The exhibition is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend, support young artists, and experience the cultural exchange reflected in the artwork.
