Globe Film Festival Returns to Odessa With Two Days of Film, Food, and Workshops

The Globe Film Festival returned to West Texas this week, bringing two days of screenings, workshops, and community events to the historic downtown theater.

The festival, hosted by Odessa College, is being held Jan. 30–31, 2026, at the Historic Globe Theatre. Organizers say the event celebrates regional storytelling, independent filmmaking, and creative talent from across West Texas.

The opening day began Friday with the Taste of Odessa Food Experience at The Hathaway Cottage, featuring local restaurants and food vendors. The evening program included original short film finalists, audience voting for awards, and a panel discussion on filmmaking in West Texas, moderated by Josh Hardt.

Friday’s schedule concluded with a screening of Friday Night Lights, drawing moviegoers to the historic venue for a community viewing experience.

Saturday programming continued with a screening of Cars, followed by a family animation workshop at the Odessa College FabLab led by Timothy Watkins. The afternoon session invited participants to explore character creation and animation techniques.

After a dinner break, the festival concluded Saturday night with a screening of Bonnie and Clyde.

Festival organizers emphasized accessibility, offering free admission for all events. In promotional materials, the festival highlighted its goal of making arts and culture available to residents and visitors alike.

The Globe Film Festival also featured panel discussions, hands-on workshops, and award presentations, creating opportunities for networking and learning among students, filmmakers, and community members.

“This festival brings together storytelling, education, and community pride,” organizers said in online announcements. “It’s about celebrating West Texas voices and creativity.”

The event is part of Odessa College’s ongoing efforts to expand cultural programming and showcase the region’s creative industries.
