Magoffin Home to Host Adult Historic Cooking Class Exploring Jiaozi

The Magoffin Home State Historic Site will host an adult historic cooking class focused on jiaozi, traditional Chinese dumplings, as part of an ongoing effort to highlight the diverse communities that helped shape the region.

The hands-on class is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Magoffin Home Visitor Center, 1117 Magoffin Ave. The cost is $10 per person, and advance payment is required.

Organizers said the class will explore both the preparation of jiaozi and the broader cultural connections that influenced El Paso’s history. The program is part of the Texas America 250 celebration, which commemorates the state’s complex and multicultural past.

Space is limited, and advance registration is required. To register, participants may call 915-533-5147.

The Magoffin Home, operated by the Texas Historical Commission, regularly hosts educational programming highlighting the people and traditions that contributed to El Paso’s development.
