A social mahjong club that began with casual play and organized leagues is expanding into a permanent retail space in Midland.
WTX Mahjong announced plans to open a brick-and-mortar location this spring at 3211 W. Wadley, Suite 5A. What started last year as a social club hosting leagues and tournaments has grown steadily, leading organizers to establish a dedicated home for play, instruction, and retail offerings.
The new Midland location is expected to serve as a hub for mahjong enthusiasts of all skill levels, offering a consistent space for organized games, league play, and community gatherings. In addition to gameplay, the expansion into retail suggests players will have access to equipment and supplies associated with the game.
Mahjong, a tile-based game with deep cultural roots and a growing following across Texas, has seen increased interest in recent years as both a social activity and competitive pastime. WTX Mahjong’s move into a permanent space reflects that growing demand in the Permian Basin.
An opening date has not yet been announced, but organizers say the location is expected to open sometime this spring.
