Pet of the Week: Powder Available for Reduced Adoption Fee

Powder is this week’s featured Pet of the Week at the Alpine Animal Services Shelter, and through the end of the day Sunday, January 11, he can be adopted for a reduced fee of $50—half the normal adoption cost.

The adoption fee includes Powder’s neuter, heartworm test, microchip, and all current vaccinations.

Powder came into the shelter on November 6 after being found running loose within the city limits of Alpine. Shelter staff say he was very shy when he first arrived and was difficult to approach. In a heartwarming turn, it was a young child who was able to earn his trust and help bring him to safety. Since then, Powder has shown a strong affection for children and does especially well around them. With adults, he prefers to take a little time to get acquainted before fully opening up.

Powder enjoys playing with other dogs and thrives with energetic, rough-and-tumble playmates. He walks well on a leash with staff and volunteers, does not pull, and keeps a clean kennel, patiently waiting for scheduled potty breaks.

He is currently learning basic commands and is highly treat-motivated, happily sitting for rewards. Once he feels comfortable, staff describe Powder as playful, sweet, and full of goofy charm.

Those interested in meeting Powder can visit the Alpine Animal Services Shelter at 2900 Old Marathon Highway in Alpine.
