Off-duty Pecos police officer arrested following domestic disturbance report

According to NewsWest 9 reporting, an off-duty Pecos Police Department officer was arrested earlier this week by the Reeves County Sheriff’s Office following a reported domestic disturbance.

Pecos police officials said the arrest occurred Monday, Jan. 5, and involved an officer who was not on duty at the time of the incident. The Reeves County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.

The Pecos Police Department acknowledged the arrest and said it does not tolerate domestic violence in any form, including conduct involving its own personnel. Department officials stated that officers are held to professional and ethical standards both on and off duty.

Following the arrest, the officer was placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues. The department indicated that established procedures will be followed and that any necessary administrative actions will be taken once the investigation is complete.

The Reeves County Sheriff’s Office said it is conducting the case review to ensure the matter is handled fairly, transparently and impartially.

Pecos police officials said the department remains committed to accountability, transparency and public safety as the investigation moves forward.
