A woman was rescued from a residential fire Thursday afternoon after emergency crews responded to a burning home on 45th Lane.
Emergency responders were dispatched just before 4 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2026, following reports of a structure fire with a possible occupant still inside. Firefighters arriving on scene immediately entered the residence to search for the individual.
Crews located the woman inside the home and were able to bring her out safely. She was transported by Pecos County EMS to Pecos County Memorial Hospital District for treatment.
Firefighters remained at the location for approximately two hours to fully suppress the fire and ensure the structure was secure. Investigators later determined the fire was caused by an electrical problem originating in the attic.
No additional injuries were reported. Family members said the woman is recovering and is expected to make a full recovery.
The Fort Stockton Fire Department was assisted on scene by Pecos County EMS and the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office. Officials credited the swift response of emergency personnel with saving the woman’s life.
