Far West Comic Con Brings Pop Culture, Gaming, and Anime to Alpine on January 24

Far West Texas will step into the world of comics, anime, gaming, and cosplay later this month as Far West Comic Con makes its return on Friday, January 24, at the Alpine Civic Center.

Billed as the region’s largest pop-culture gathering, the event will feature voice actors from major anime franchises, a cosplay competition, gaming and Magic: The Gathering tournaments, live K-pop performances, artist showcases, and vendors from across West Texas and beyond.

Doors open at 11 a.m. at the Alpine Civic Center, located at 801 W. Holland Ave.

Voice Actors and Artists Headline the Event

Among the featured guests are well-known anime voice actors Ray Hurd, Josh Martin, and Chris Rager, whose credits span titles such as Dragon Ball Z, My Hero Academia, One Piece, Lupin the 3rd, and Borderlands.

Comic fans will also have the chance to meet featured artist Jonathan Miller, whose work has appeared in El Peso Hero and Moonlight Rrriot. Miller is scheduled to showcase original art and discuss his creative process throughout the event.

Cosplay, Gaming, and K-Pop

Far West Comic Con will host a Cosplay Contest, with prizes and special guest judging by Zombriel. Registration details are expected to be announced closer to the event.

Competitive gaming will also be in the spotlight, with Magic: The Gathering Regional Championship Qualifiers and a gaming tournament included with general admission. Game titles for the tournament are still to be announced.

Adding to the energy of the day, the event will feature live K-pop performances, including a scheduled appearance by the KLICK dance team, bringing choreography and high-energy music to the Alpine stage.
