Fort Stockton ISD Seeks Community Support for Student-Led Broadcasting Program

Fort Stockton ISD is seeking community and local business support for Tumbleweed+, a student-led broadcasting and media production program that provides hands-on experience in live event coverage, journalism, photography, and digital storytelling.

Tumbleweed+ is operated by Fort Stockton ISD students and offers real-world training in broadcasting and media production across a wide range of school and community events. While the program will provide live coverage of district basketball games during the 2026 season, organizers emphasized that Tumbleweed+ extends far beyond athletics.

Students participating in the program serve in roles such as technical directors, commentators, camera operators, audio managers, scoreboard operators, photographers, video editors, and production crew members. The program also focuses on storytelling, photography, and documentation of school activities, helping students build practical skills used in modern media careers.

According to district information, local business sponsorships help fund student training, equipment, and production resources while allowing the program to expand live coverage and multimedia projects throughout the school year.

School officials said the initiative is designed to provide students with meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that mirror professional broadcast and media environments, preparing them for future education and workforce pathways in communications, journalism, and digital media.

Community members or businesses interested in supporting the Tumbleweed+ program or learning more about sponsorship opportunities can contact Tristan Barragan at 432-336-4101 or by email at tristian.barragan@fsisd.net.

District representatives thanked the community for supporting student learning, creativity, and career-focused education opportunities across Fort Stockton ISD.
