Alpine Animal Services has been recognized by the Best Friends Network for maintaining no-kill status during the 2024 calendar year, according to information shared by the organization.
The recognition was awarded after Alpine Animal Services exceeded a 90% save rate for cats and dogs, meeting the national benchmark used by Best Friends to designate no-kill shelters. The designation applies to shelters that either achieve or maintain that save rate over the course of a year.
A plaque presented by the Best Friends Network notes the achievement and formally recognizes Alpine Animal Services for its 2024 performance. Best Friends Animal Society, a national nonprofit focused on ending the killing of dogs and cats in shelters, operates the Best Friends Network to support and track shelter outcomes across the country.
Alpine Animal Services operates as the city’s animal shelter and adoption service, helping reunite lost pets with their owners and placing adoptable animals into permanent homes. The facility is located at 2900 Old Marathon Highway in Alpine.
