New pickleball courts are expected to be ready for public use at Teresa Mason Park, commonly known as Rocket Park, according to an announcement from the City of Fort Stockton Economic Development Department.
The city shared on social media that the courts are part of a broader effort to improve and expand recreational facilities in Fort Stockton. The post said the courts are scheduled to be ready for play in January 2026.
Rocket Park is located at 1209 N. Oklahoma St. and is one of the city’s most frequently used neighborhood parks, offering playground equipment, picnic tables and open green space. City materials indicate the pickleball courts are being added as an upgrade to existing park amenities.
A separate update previously released by the Fort Stockton Economic Development Corporation stated that the project was approved as part of a community development initiative aimed at improving public spaces and expanding recreational opportunities. That update identified LT Construction as the contractor bringing the project to completion.
Pickleball, a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, has grown rapidly in popularity nationwide and is often promoted for its accessibility to players of different ages and skill levels.
