A long-time fixture of downtown Fort Davis is officially for sale. The owners of Butterfield Inn Main Street Cottages announced this week that they are ready to pass the beloved property to its next steward.
The announcement marks a significant change for the couple who have owned and operated the inn for years. In a message to guests and the community, they said they “quietly had Butterfield for sale for a while,” but weren’t fully committed to the transition until recently. With plans to relocate to East Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren, they said the time has come “to move forward” and find a new owner.
The property is listed at $749,000 and includes four stand-alone cottages along with the main building, which houses an office, front desk and gift shop, and a two-bedroom, two-bath family suite with a full kitchen and living room. That suite currently serves as a rentable apartment but could also function as an owner’s residence.
Located directly on State Street, Fort Davis’ main commercial corridor, the inn sits in a prime position for visitors and entrepreneurs alike. The owners note that the property offers “lots of opportunities to expand the business,” calling it a strong fit for someone seeking a small-business venture or semi-retirement opportunity in one of West Texas’ most charming mountain towns.
Financial statements are available through the realtor, and the full listing can be viewed online.
