Big things are taking off in Midland! The Midland Development Corporation and the City of Midland celebrated a groundbreaking today at Midland International Air & Space Port, marking the start of a new terminal expansion that promises to make air travel faster and more efficient for the entire Permian Basin.
The project will enhance check-in areas, streamline security operations, and expand traveler amenities — a much-anticipated upgrade as air traffic continues to grow in one of Texas’ busiest energy hubs.
“As the Permian Basin keeps growing, our airport does too,” officials said. “This project will help keep us all better connected.”
Midland International Air & Space Port, already notable as the nation’s first commercial spaceport co-located with a major airport, continues to serve as a vital link between West Texas and destinations across the country. The expansion marks another step in positioning Midland as a regional leader in transportation, innovation, and global connectivity.
