Presidio International Ceases Publication; Coverage to Continue Under Big Bend Sentinel

The Presidio International, the bilingual sister publication of the Big Bend Sentinel, has ceased publication. Going forward, its coverage will be incorporated into the Sentinel, which is now operated by the Sentinel News Project, a nonprofit launched in September.

Both newspapers were previously owned by the same publishers, and the transition marks a consolidation of their efforts under nonprofit management. The Sentinel said the move is intended to expand, not reduce, coverage — particularly in South County and Spanish-language reporting.

“This plan has been in place for quite some time,” the paper said, noting that it will continue to highlight the unique cross-border community the Presidio International covered for decades.

Current International subscribers will automatically receive the Big Bend Sentinel, which will now include bilingual stories and expanded regional coverage.
