Residents of Terrell County gathered in Sanderson on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, for a National Night Out event that brought together local families and multiple law enforcement agencies for an evening of community connection and appreciation.
The event, organized by Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland and hosted in partnership with the Big Bend Area Law Enforcement Officers Association, featured participation from several agencies including the Terrell County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, and the U.S. Border Patrol.
Attendees enjoyed a hot dog supper served by officers, while local and state agencies showcased their equipment — including off-road ATVs, a river boat, and drones — giving residents a closer look at the tools used in public safety operations.
The event drew a strong turnout from the Sanderson community, providing an opportunity for residents to meet and interact with first responders outside of official duties.
“Hats off to all First Responders who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this well-organized event,” said Ed Krevit, Executive Director of the Big Bend Area Law Enforcement Officers Association, who submitted the event report.
National Night Out events are held annually across the country to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve — and this year’s gathering in Terrell County continued that tradition in true West Texas fashion.
