The iconic La Kiva Restaurant & Bar has officially reopened under new management, marking the return of one of Terlingua’s most beloved landmarks after being closed since July 2024.
Located at 23220 FM 170, La Kiva is once again serving food and drinks from 5 p.m. to midnight, open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The restaurant will remain closed on Wednesdays and Sundays temporarily as the new management team fine-tunes operations.
This Saturday, La Kiva will be closed to the public for a private event, but the venue will resume its regular Saturday hours the following weekend.
In a message to patrons, the new management expressed gratitude to the community:
“Big thanks to everyone who noticed our door was open last night and came in despite our non-announcement. We appreciate it more than you know. We love you, Terlingua!”
Founded in 1981, La Kiva has long been a staple of Terlingua’s dining and nightlife scene, known for its distinctive cave-like design, lively atmosphere, and place in local lore. Its reopening is being celebrated as a sign of renewed energy in the Big Bend food and music community.
