Texas Parks and Wildlife Hiring Park Superintendent at Big Bend Ranch State Park

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is seeking applicants for a senior-level Park Superintendent IV position at Big Bend Ranch State Park, with applications closing on September 10, 2025.

The role, based at the park’s Sauceda Unit in one of the most remote and rugged areas of Texas, offers a monthly salary between $6,654 and $7,654 plus full state employee benefits. The superintendent will oversee park preservation, visitor safety, financial management, concessions, marketing, and community outreach while leading staff and volunteers to advance TPWD’s mission of conserving Texas’ natural and cultural resources.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ experience in fields such as resource management, maintenance, public safety, or education, along with three years in a supervisory role. Preferred qualifications include prior park management experience, revenue or budget management skills, and knowledge of rangeland management and animal husbandry.

The position requires residency in state-provided housing at the park, with a monthly deduction of $136.64. Applicants should be prepared for a schedule that includes weekends, holidays, on-call emergencies, and extensive outdoor work in sometimes harsh conditions.

Big Bend Ranch State Park, part of the Chihuahuan Desert ecosystem, is celebrated for its biodiversity, striking landscapes, and outdoor recreation opportunities. TPWD encourages applicants to research or visit the park before applying due to its remote nature.
