Community Invited to Help Shape Future of Manuel Payne Field

Alpine ISD and the City of Alpine are calling on the community to share their input on potential upgrades to Manuel Payne Field. A public meeting will be held Monday, September 22, from 7–8 p.m. in the Alpine High School Cafeteria (enter through the gym doors).

The goal of the project is to improve youth recreation facilities for Alpine’s softball leagues and to bring Alpine Middle School and Alpine High School Lady Buck Softball teams back to Manuel Payne Field as their home field.

Potential improvements under consideration include:

Playing Surface: Outfield conditions and infield dirt work. Infrastructure: Scoreboard, backstop fencing, and related upgrades. Fan Experience: Seating, signage, and overall field environment.

District leaders encourage parents, players, and residents to attend and be part of the planning process. “This is a working meeting where we’ll brainstorm ideas together,” Alpine ISD said in its announcement.

The field, dedicated on April 13, 1996, has long been a staple of Alpine athletics, and the project represents an opportunity to invest in both local sports and community recreation.
