The Marathon Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) received a generous boost last week thanks to the ongoing support of a beloved local institution. On Thursday, August 14, MVFD Chief Wilson was presented with a $5,566.67 donation from The Gage Hotel, raised during the hotel’s annual Songwriters Festival.
The funds will directly support equipment upgrades and firefighter training through 2026, helping MVFD continue its vital mission of protecting the Marathon community and surrounding areas.
“This generous donation from the Gage will make a lasting impact,” said Chief Wilson. “Our department depends heavily on community support, and we’re incredibly grateful to the Gage for helping us stay equipped and prepared.”
The Gage Hotel’s Songwriters Festival has become a signature event in the Big Bend region, drawing visitors from across Texas and beyond. The hotel has long been a supporter of local first responders and civic organizations.
MVFD extends its heartfelt thanks to The Gage Hotel, the artists, and all who participated in this year’s festival.
