Members of the Presidio County Democratic Party braved washed-out roads and thick mud this past weekend to deliver much-needed clothing donations to families in the remote border communities of Candelaria and Ruidosa.
The trip, organized by local volunteers and party members, involved distributing donated shirts, jeans, sweaters, jackets, and shoes. These items were collected through community-led donation drives aimed at supporting residents facing ongoing economic and environmental hardships.
Despite encountering treacherous road conditions caused by recent heavy rains, the team pressed forward.
In addition to delivering supplies, the group spent time talking with residents, gaining insight into both the resilience and daily challenges of life in these rural towns. The visit offered a reminder of the strength of border communities often overlooked in broader political conversations.
