Maverick Bank Applies to Merge with Tejas Bank

Maverick Bank, located at 100 South State Street in Fort Davis, has submitted an application to the Texas Department of Banking for approval to merge with Tejas Bank of Monahans, Texas. The proposed merger is expected to take place on or about August 4, 2025, with Maverick Bank as the surviving institution.

According to the notice, all current offices of both Maverick Bank and Tejas Bank are expected to remain open and continue operations under the Maverick Bank name following the merger.

The Texas Department of Banking is accepting written public comments regarding the merger. Comments must be submitted on or before the 14th calendar day after the publication date to:

All comments received will become part of the public record and reviewed by the banking commissioner.

Those wishing to formally protest the merger must also submit a written notice of protest within the same 14-day period. A protest filing must include a $2,500 protest fee, which may be reduced or waived in cases of substantial hardship.
