Sul Ross State University is seeking applicants for a newly posted position to support conservation outreach across West Texas. The university announced the opening for an Engagement & Activities Coordinator with the Borderlands Research Institute (BRI), headquartered on the university’s Alpine campus.
The coordinator will be responsible for expanding community engagement and building public support for conservation initiatives throughout the Trans-Pecos region. According to the job listing, the position will also play a key role in planning outreach, training events, and major fundraising efforts, including the annual West Texas Conservationist of the Year banquet.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and have experience with community outreach, public speaking, and event coordination. Preferred qualifications include a background in agricultural leadership, natural resource management, or related fields, along with familiarity with private land stewardship and rural stakeholder engagement.
The position reports to the associate director of operations at BRI and is expected to begin on September 1, 2025. Salary is listed as commensurate with experience.
