Sul Ross Posts New Grants Coordinator Role at Borderlands Research Institute

Sul Ross State University is accepting applications for a newly posted Grants Coordinator position with the Borderlands Research Institute (BRI), focused on supporting conservation research and outreach throughout West Texas.

The position, located on the university’s Alpine campus, will be responsible for coordinating grant development and proposal submissions. The selected candidate will work closely with BRI faculty and staff to identify funding opportunities, support budget development, and ensure compliance with pre-award procedures in collaboration with Sul Ross’ Office of Sponsored Programs.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, English, technical writing, or a similar field. Experience in grant writing, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to interpret grant policies and develop compliant proposals are required. A master’s degree and prior experience in a university research or grants office are preferred.

Primary duties include identifying funding sources, writing and reviewing proposals, managing documentation, and coordinating with external partners and funders. The role also involves attending trainings and providing updated grantsmanship knowledge to BRI staff.

The position reports to the associate director of development for BRI and is set to begin on Sept. 1, 2025. Salary is listed as commensurate with experience.
