Marathon’s French Co. Grocer Nears Grand Reopening, Two Burger Nights Left at Original Location

A beloved local staple is on the verge of a new chapter. The French Co. Grocer, long known as Marathon’s gathering spot for groceries, coffee, and community, is preparing to move into a new, hand-built facility next month.

Constructed from compressed earth block in collaboration with the School of Constructive Arts in Terlingua and Glass Mountain Construction, the new French Co. building reflects a focus on regenerative design and sustainable, community-driven construction.

Leading the project is Sam, who has overseen the transformation from vision to reality—often literally brick by brick.

While the move is just weeks away, the current French Co. location is hosting one of its final Burger Nights tonight. Only two Burger Nights remain at the original site.

Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to stop by, grab a burger, and celebrate the people and effort behind one of Marathon’s most iconic spaces.
