Voices From Both Sides Returns May 10 to Paso Lajitas

Voices From Both Sides, the annual cross-border river celebration, returns Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lajitas river access point, just west of the resort.

The event brings together communities from both the U.S. and Mexican sides of the Rio Grande for a day of music, food, and unity — a symbolic “Fiesta Protesta” in response to the ongoing militarization of the border. Locals and visitors wade across the river to reconnect and celebrate shared culture and history.

The celebration, hosted by the nonprofit Big Bend Citizens Alliance (BBCA), began in 2012 and continues to highlight the impact of post-9/11 border closures that isolated the village of Paso Lajitas from basic goods and services once easily accessed from the U.S. side.

BBCA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Terlingua.
