Fourth and fifth graders from Dirks-Anderson Elementary School wrapped up the school year with a field trip to Davis Mountains State Park, according to a post from the official Davis Mountains State Park – Texas Parks and Wildlife page.
During the visit, students hiked the Indian Lodge Trail, toured the recently renovated Indian Lodge, and learned about desert plants including sotol, yucca, and agave. The trip concluded with birdwatching at the park’s Interpretive Center.
The park, located near Fort Davis, often hosts educational groups to connect students with the region’s unique ecosystem. Photos from the trip were taken by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff.
