Author Kathi Appelt to Visit Front Street Books for May 13 Meet & Greet

Award-winning children’s author Kathi Appelt will visit Front Street Books on Tuesday, May 13, for a special meet and greet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Appelt is the author of more than thirty books for children and young adults, including The Underneath, a finalist for both the National Book Award and the Newbery Honor, and Once Upon a Camel, a middle grade novel set in the Texas desert with illustrations by Caldecott Medalist Eric Rohmann.

In addition to her writing, Appelt teaches in the MFA program at Vermont College of Fine Arts and has received honors including the PEN USA Award, the Award for Excellence in Teaching from the New Jersey Writing Project in Houston, and the Women Who Make a Difference Award from the Brazos Maternal and Child Health Clinic.

The event is free and open to the public. Front Street Books is located in downtown Alpine.
