Free Summer STEAM Camp Announced at Sul Ross State University

Sul Ross State University, in partnership with Alpine Community Projects and the Alpine Lion’s Club, will host a free summer STEAM camp this July for area middle school students.

The camp will take place July 7–8 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Morgan University Center on the Sul Ross campus. It is open to students entering 5th through 8th grade in Alpine, Marfa, Marathon and Fort Davis.

STEAM—an interdisciplinary approach to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics—focuses on hands-on learning, critical thinking and collaboration. Students will have the opportunity to take part in one-hour sessions in subjects such as geology, biology, theatre, music, movement, and career exploration, taught by university faculty and community leaders.

Morning snacks and lunch will be provided. Space is limited to 30 students, and registration forms must be submitted by May 30. Forms are available at campuses in all four communities.
