Major improvement projects funded by the Great American Outdoors Act are scheduled to begin in August 2025 at the Chisos Basin area of Big Bend National Park, park officials announced.
The multi-year construction effort will impact several key locations in the Chisos Basin, including:
Basin Road
Lodging and campground facilities
The restaurant and camper store
The National Park Service visitor center
Surrounding trails
The work is expected to span approximately two years, with phased reopenings as individual projects are completed. Visitors planning trips beginning in August 2025 are encouraged to stay updated and plan accordingly.
