Authorities in northern Chihuahua have seized a cache of high-powered weapons and several vehicles—including a black Infiniti SUV, a burned-out semi-truck, and a bulletproof white pickup—after a reported armed confrontation along the Ojinaga–Chihuahua highway early Wednesday morning.
According to Ojinaga Noticias, the incident took place near the municipality of Aldama. A multi-agency operation involving the State Investigation Agency (AEI), State Public Security (SSPE), the Mexican Army, and the National Guard was launched in response to the shootout, with searches concentrating around the area known as Chorreras.
At that location, authorities discovered a black Infiniti QX80 containing:
- 9 assault rifles
- 9 loaded magazines
- Approximately 2,000 rounds of ammunition
- 4 improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
They also seized a white, armored Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
Further down the road, officers found two vehicles completely incinerated, as well as an abandoned black Ford FX4 pickup near kilometer marker 76. Beyond the Ojinaga–Coyame junction, a burned-out semi-trailer truck was also located.
In a separate but possibly related development, a deceased male was discovered at approximately 2:00 a.m. in central Aldama at the intersection of Segunda and Juárez streets. The victim, believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, had suffered multiple blunt-force injuries. His identity remains unknown, and his body was transferred to the local medical examiner’s office.
The SSPE and SEDENA (Mexican Army) are leading the investigation and continuing efforts to identify and capture those responsible for the violent incidents.
