Sul Ross State University’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) brought smiles and high energy to the Alpine community during their 2nd annual Field Day on April 2.
Roughly 20 SRSU student-athletes joined 25 students from Alpine ISD for a morning of sports, games, and community bonding. The event featured multiple sports-themed activity stations, with SAAC volunteers both facilitating and participating alongside the young attendees.
The Field Day is part of a partnership between SAAC and the Office of Civic Engagement & Student Assistance, aimed at strengthening the university’s ties with local schools and providing meaningful service opportunities for student-athletes.
“We love to be a growing part of this community and want every chance to pour back into it,” said Clayton Garcia, SRSU’s Assistant Athletic Director. “Events like this bring our SAAC students as much joy as it does for the AISD students who participate.”
Now in its second year, the event is quickly becoming a tradition that celebrates teamwork, mentorship, and the joy of play across all ages.
