The U.S. Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector has officially launched a new community outreach program called Project START, aimed at mentoring local youth and building stronger ties with the region’s next generation.
Announced this week, the initiative brings together elected officials, school administrators, and law enforcement partners at the federal, state, and local levels to offer teens guidance, support, and positive role models.
According to the agency, Project START is designed to steer young people toward productive futures through mentorship, leadership development, and educational support.
The Border Patrol says the program is part of a broader effort to engage communities across the sprawling Big Bend Sector, which spans much of West Texas. It is one of several new outreach initiatives the agency has introduced to foster trust and collaboration with area residents.
Further details on Project START’s implementation, participating schools, and scheduled events are expected in the coming weeks.
