The Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University in Alpine is undergoing a $1.4 million renovation aimed at expanding its public offerings and improving infrastructure.
A major component of the project is relocating the museum’s existing map room from the basement to the main gallery, creating a new Texas Map Research Center. The renovation also includes addressing water infiltration issues and improving accessibility throughout the 10,000-square-foot space.
Funded by public dollars through the Texas State University System, the project is being led by Dallas-based BRW Architects. Marcela Abadi Rhoads is serving as the Registered Accessibility Specialist.
